I have been performing on stage since the age of seven.
My father Eddie Henderson played folk, blues and slave spirituals on the streets
of Philadelphia and also in the Camden City school systems. My first job at
the age of 10 was to sing whenever my dad made an appearance, as well as serve
brownies and cocoa, at the Perimeter Coffee House in Haddonfield, NJ. I have
also performed for the Philadelphia Folk Festival, Cooper River Park, and even
accompanied my dad at my own elementary school.
When I turned 16, I began appearing on the 80's most popular dance show, Dance Party USA. By the end of my 3 year run, I had become a co-host, gained two managers, one for music and one for acting, and was on my way to releasing my first single which gained a great review in Billboard Magazine. You can even see it in the photo section of my Myspace page. I have recorded many styles of music including pop, blues, punk, jazz, soul, and house.
Now my passion includes recording orighal music with
my band SOULAMITE!
I'm free to express myself, dance, scream and be in control of the music. SOULAMITE!
has been spotted at many fabulous dives such as Otto's Shrunken Head Tiki Bar
in NYC, Ortlieb's Jazzhaus, and World Cafe Live, as well as their home base
bar, Tritone.
