Michael was lovely to work with, and I’m sorry that I was unable to obtain the first two takes.
The idea to make this video came from an opportunity that I saw in my Directing Actors class at Columbia College. I wanted to capture myself and the actor in order to show what our process looks like.
In this class there are about 10 students and 10 actors. We work on very short scenes and then rotate out so that the next people can go up and shoot in front of the camera.
I work with the actor for about 20 minutes beforehand and then when it’s our turn in the rotation, we quickly jump up and shoot the take. Afterward, we switch actors. I work with two actors total per 4 hour class.
